Support for WWII
In 1942 the United States was gearing up for World War II and everyone was called on to support the war effort. Many may not know that at this time, the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (early CMP) provided guns for the clubs to use and also clubs could purchase both ammo and targets. The War Department called for all .30 Caliber guns in use by clubs to be return to the military.
Sell your rifle to support the troops.
Based on the letter from the NRA, The War Department was willing to purchase privately owned rifles that are in service condition. Their offer of up to $47.50 for Springfield's and $12.50 for Enfield's sounds like a good price today, I will take a dozen of each. It was a good thing that the .22 did not get return so small bore shooting continued.
The End of Lodi Gun Club
By November 28th, 1942, the Lodi Gun Club was dissolved. My guess the lack of guns, ammo, and with everyone supporting the war effort, matches could no longer take place.

Wow! Look at the value of the equipment in 1942.
